The 411 on a CoPP Girl

This is just a brief summary of who I am and why I chose Hotel Management and Tourism as my major!

My name is Danielle Coniglio and I am originally from the wonderful and beautiful city of Chicago. Do I miss it? Yes, indeed I do! I miss the charismatic people at Cubs and Bears games! I miss the lake! I miss my family and friends! I miss the Midwest mentality. Do I miss the snow? Do I miss the traffic? Do I miss below 0 weather with a wind chill? Definitely not! I love that it is eighty degrees in mid-February! You just can't beat that! I came to ASU knowing this school was perfect for me, but I had no idea what I wanted to do.

I was an undeclared major my freshman year. Sophomore year, someone came to one of my classes and advertised the study abroad programs for the College of Public Programs.

Immediately, my ears perked up, as I intensely listened to what was being promoted. At that moment, I knew this was the major for me! I decided to focus on Hotel Management and Tourism. There are so many other routes to take with this college, such as Park Management, Non-profit Management, etc. You really have your pick of the litter! There is literally something for everyone! I chose tourism because I love learning about other cultures and traveling. This major has given me the opportunity to travel abroad to places like Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Curacao, and the list goes on! You will soon learn that when you pick a major that is meant for you, it is an amazing feeling. I have accomplished so much, yet I feel I have so much more to conquer.

I am currently a senior and I plan on graduating May '08. I plan on going to graduate school, because I truly enjoy the college experience and everything the downtown campus has to offer. This campus really allows you to get to know the professors on a personal level. They know everyone on a name-to-name basis, which is very rare at big universities. Usually you're just another fish in the sea. You will learn this is very important and really makes the learning experience much more enjoyable! This is just a summary of who I am. There is still so much more you don't know. If you're interested in learning more about me, and the downtown campus, feel free to visit my blog! I hope you see the many different opportunities the downtown campus has to offer!
